Formal english resources ?

Hi guys, I am writing a paper for a scientific journal and I would like to give a more formal style to my composition...

I have read many articles, but still most of them are written by non-native english-speakers, so they might not be good to use as a reference..

What I'm looking for is a resource that would give me hints on which prepositions, conjunctions, and expressions to use to sound more formal......

like... if I wanted to say "we should go"......I know that I would sound more formal if I said "it's high time we went"...

Any book or link containing this kind of suggestions?

any help will be appreciated Emotion: wink

bye
