Hi.
I was asked of the following questions.

1. What did you first drive a car?
2. What did you first go on trip?

What is the conventional or formal answer?

In my case of 1 : When I was young about 20 , I got a drive license. That was my first drove experience.

In my case of 2 : My fist trip was on honeymoon to abroad. I have been to hongkong.

Not when you are specifically talking about your first trip abroad (in the past).

If you are talking about a specific past-time event, such as your first visit to HK, then you need a past-tense verb: I went to Honk Kong for the first time in 2012/on my honeymoon.. If you are talking about your life experience up to the present time, then you need a present perfect form: I have been to Hong Kong once/several times/etc.
