Formal and Informal Minutes of Meeting

What is the difference between formal and informal minutes of meeting. I know that formal minutes are often required by federal, state, or local law, by-laws, charters, or regulations but what about informal minutes of meeting. Kindly solve my problem.

Formal minutes are covered by Robert's Rules of Order. They have a specific format, are signed by the secretary, and require the approval of the group, usually at the next meeting. There is also a formal amendment process.
