Can anyone tell me what the grammatical form of the phrase 'on his own' is. I thought it was preposition (on) + possessive pronoun (his) + adjective (own), but was told this was wrong. Now I'm thinking maybe it's preposition + possessive determiner + pronoun.
Any ideas?? It's driving me crazy!
