I'm happy finding this forum. I hope some of you can help me to explain the form of compound adjective below? I have some difficulties in indicating which is NOUN + PRESENT PARTICIPLE and which is NOUN + GERUND??

You can consider 'gift-giving' as an adjective here, or as a gerund used
Actually I am working on my minor thesis about the translation of Hyphenated compound adjective into Indonesian. I take all the data from Yann Martel's novel Life of Pi. I found 300 data on it and some of them are in my previous question. Oh well it is my problem
