Forgot/left my passport

Hello! Could you please tell me if it's okay to use the word 'forget' when I'm talking about something that I left somewhere, for example 'I forgot my passport at home'? Or I should use 'leave' - 'I left my passport at home'? Is it a mistake if I use 'forget' instead of 'leave'? Thank you in advance!
