Which one is the most appropriate? When referring to an action that is happening at that moment?

I forget what it's called...
I forgot what it's called...
I've forgotten what it's called...

All three are used commonly and interchangeably in speech. I think in my speech I use the first and the third nearly equally. If I were writing in any way other than extremely casually I'd use only the third.
