Forerunner/harbinger/herald

Hello,

I was a little confused by the definiton of the word ''forerunner''. Can it be used instead of ''harbinger'' and ''herald'' to refer to someone or something that precedes or foreshadows something? All the three mean to predict something.

Thank you!
