Foreign Quotes

Hi all,

Does anyone know the correct way of putting foreign quotes into writing where the translation may not be known to the reader?

For example, are these all valid (or any combination of them):

Harry remembered to embrace his joie de vivre (enjoyment of life).

Harry remembered to embrace his "joie de vivre" i.e. enjoyment of life.

Harry remembered to embrace his joie de vivre - enjoyment of life.

Any help appreciated.

Joie de vivre does not need a translation. It is a French expression in English, and it is in our dictionaries. It does get italics because it is still French.

Joie de vivre does not need a translation. It is a French expression in English, and it is in our dictionaries. It does get italics because it is still French. But to take it as an example for the sake of style, in the US it's:

Harry remembered to embrace his joie de vivre, "enjoyment of life."

You can also do it like this:

Harry remembered to embrace his joi
