Forehand grip

Hi,

I was holding the forehand grip.

I was holding the racquet for forehand.

I was holding the racquet as if I were going to hit a forehand. (I'd probably use 'like I was' in a casual conversation.)

Are all of them natural?

Those aren't completely natural, but understandable. I would probably say "I held the racquet in a forehand grip".
