• force sb doing sth

Hi!

I read the following in a TOEIC book:

“5. The severe weather conditions in the alpine regions forced the airlines ______ all outgoing flights and divert incoming planes.

A. canceling

B. to cancel

C. cancel

D. canceled

(Answer: B)” ((Longman Preparation Series for the New TOEIC Test, Advanced Course, 4th Edition, p. 139))

I agree with the above that B is correct.

I just want to know whether you say “force sb doing sth”.

Is there any case in which you use the structure “force + sb + doing sth”?

If there is, would you please let me know some example sentences?

Thanks in advance.
