for what it's worth?

Hi guys,

please can someone explain me this IDIOM via examples? I found some examples at thefreedictionary.com, but I dont understand them..:-((

The situation is from the movie, where forensic is talking to one woman.

He said:

Look, Susan, for what it's worth. I think you are in the clear.

Can I translate it like, what is done is done?

many thanks in advance.

No, not really. I get the impression that it's only his opinion that she is in the clear, she may not actually be.
