For vs as regards

Can one use
a. He advised you not to trust me or any of my friends. You ignored that advice for me, but not for my friends, why?
instead of
b. He advised you not to trust me or any of my friends. You ignored that advice as regards me, but not as regards my friends, why?
?

Bad choice of words? "Advice for" a person usually means advice given to that person. "As regards" is OK; "about" is better.
