Grammar

For + Time duration

1. "My left arm has been achy for the past few days"

2. "Record events for the past 7 days"

3. "I've been away the past few weeks"

Is the for not included in the 3rd phrase before it's preceded by an adverb instead of a noun or adjective or is it a different reason?

Thank you

You can add or omit the preposition in all of those. The usage may depend on the level of formality in each case.
