For there are.. expression

Hey, i recently stumbled upon a quite peculiar expression while listening to the smiths. In this song "Still Ill" there's a line "For there are brighter sides to life, and I should know [...]" What does this mean and what does "for" stands for in this particular sentence? Could you explain me how does that work, please? Emotion: smile Thanks in advance.
