FOR THE TIME and IN THE TIME

I'm having trouble with these sentences.

1 Sit on the suitcase for the time of the song. By the you'll have flattened it out.

2 I ate my food in the time she stood in line and order. She stood on/in the longest slowest line. By the time she came to sit down I was done.

thank you
