for the sole purpose

This example isn't great but have I used 'for the sole purpose' correctly?

If I could go back in time and put more mayo in the tuna, I would have, but I'm not about to walk to the other side of the mansion for the sole purpose of putting more mayo in your tuna sandwich.

Thank you

Yes, your use of "for the sole purpose" is fine. The only slight glitch in the sentence is that "would have" should be "would".
