Although the young mad dog saw the old dog for the first time, it sensed the old dog that did not like it.

Although the young mad dog saw the old dog in their/its first time, it sensed the old dog that did not like it.

Are they correct?

If you are personifying the dog to such a degree, I would also use either "he" or "she" and not "it."
