For the first time

Question

Hi,I found following sentences at the homepage of a company. mission : help our customers become successful companies. Attract successful companies to become our customers.  Policy : we pursue “zero defects” and “do the right thing right for the first time” . I think that the “do the right thing right for the first time” is not proper. Should it be “do the right thing right first time.” or “do the right thing right from the first time.” or “do the right thing right from the begining.” ?Would you give me your comment?

I tend to agree with you. The way they write it sounds to me like they've never done it right before and will try to do it for the first time.

This idea seems a bit 'circular'.

eg I become your customer. You help me become successful. You attract me to be your customer again. You help me be successful, although I'm already successful. etc. etc. etc.

To me, as a native speaker, this seems like sniggering.

Normal, friendly laughter is usually written as Hahaha. . .

Well, I've always associated hehehe (pronounced with a schwa

) with a small laughter while hahaha a big one. Jim's version sounds more like a giggle to me, but then again I'm not a native speaker of laughter... sorry, English

There are some kinds of laugh words here in korea:

- ha, ha, ha; the most commonly used by all , men/women, adults/kids
- he, he, he; a little giggling
- hi, hi, hi; more giggling
- ho, ho, ho; delightful but not giggling, generally used by women/girls
- heu, heu, heu; sneaky
- hur, hur, hur; speechless
- hu, hu, hu; sweet, friendly
- ggil, ggil, ggil; much giggling
- ggal, ggal, ggal; delightful but not so giggling, generally used by young girls
- ggul, ggul, ggul; magnanimous
- ggar-r-r; delightful and lovely, generally used by babies or young children

When you try and write the sound of a person laughing, the standard "haha!" does not always capture the true sound and meaning. Different laughs have different flavors. For the benefit of world peace, here is a list of written laughs, and information on those subtle differences.

ahahah!	aristocratic, or kind of a hick laugh
ahh ha ha	not really different from the ordinairy hahaha, but this one is an attempt to capture the breath before the burst of laughter (ahh-)
bwahaha!	boisterous
BWL!	acronym: Bursting With Laughter
chortle	gleeful chuckle, chuckling and snorting. Ususally designated as a description of a weird laugh, but a chortle can be a laugh you make when you REALLY enjoy something. Often used in British comic "the Dandy and the Beano" or "Beano book", e.g. Dennis the Menace's annoying habit of guffawing at his own actions: 'Ha ha! Look Gnasher! Chortle!'
