Hi,

Ex: "Although I have been a ABCD user for several of years, I still cannot..."

What might be the reason for the author to have used "for several OF years" (not just "for several years") in this context?

In my opinion he just made a simple mistake. One could substitute "a number" for the word 'several' and it would then be correct.
