For reset

1. "Once the gauge gets emptied, the machine will be reset"

2. "The gauge will empty for reset"

Does the second phrase makes sense and matches the meaning of the 1st one?

Thank you.

(2) doesn't make much sense. (1) makes more sense, but I question whether the gauge is emptied. It seems more likely to me that the gauge would show that something else, such as a tank, was empty.
