"for" or "to"

Dear all,
We fasted and prayed for God to protect us. This is from the Bible.
My doubt is "prayed to God or Prayed for God" what is the difference between these sentences
Thank you.

The difference is negligible at best, and they're both correct. If you pray to *** to protect you, the prayers are uttered directly to him. If you pray for him to protect you, it's just less direct.

  • After all, who else would your prayers reach?
