For or of

Hi teachers, can anyone tell me whether or not this sentence is correct?

Dave never asked me to shoulder all the blame for his often brilliant mess-ups.

I came across that sentence while I was reading a book and I find it grammatically incorrect because of the usage of the word for. Shouldn't that be of?
