The sentence looks a little strange to me.

Could it be:

Her mother had stopped Asha (taking) second helpings of (the) fried dishes. For one (thing),..........

If so, it means 'One reason for this was that...'

If not, can you post the rest of the 'For one,...' sentence, please?
