For / on / this Christmas

1) What do you want for Christmas?

2) What do you want on Christmas?

3) What do you want this Christmas?

Which one is natural to native English speakers? Or is there a meaning difference among them?

Thank you so much as usual and have a good day.

The most natural, if you are referring to what one would want to receive as a gift or present, would be #1. In my opinion, #2 would be understood, but it is not natural. As for #3, this works as well, but it would have to be understood or implied that you are asking about the receiving of a gift.

  • Otherwise, this can just as easily refer to an emotional state or the weather or any number of things.
  • Examples: I want everyone to be happy this Christmas.
