For my money

Could you tell me whether or not the idiom “for my money” in the meaning of “in my opinion” is used in conversations? I ran into it in a novel but I’m dark about how frequently people put it to actual use.

In the UK it is a widely known phrase, but I would say that it is used occasionally rather than frequently. It isn't something that I hear every day, anyway.
