For lunch / to lunch

Hi, there,

can anybody, please explain the difference between "go to lunch" and "go for lunch".

E.g. After school I went to lunch / for lunch to my grandma's,

I say these common expressions all the time without thinking much about the difference - they mean the same thing. But I the order of the phrases changes and the other preposition, too. I go to Grandma's for lunch.
