Yes, but "for himself" and "on his own" work better if there's a real accomplishment - a challenge that was overcome.
Eating a pizza without help from others isn't very much of an accomplishment, so the last one sounds a little odd.
You will probably hear it as "He ate the whole pizza himself".

Seeing a place isn't much of an accomplishment, either. In this case "for himself" mea
