(ex) A few employees stayed at the annual dinner for half time while others stayed there (for) the whole time.
I would like to ask two questions.
(1) Is it correct to say "stay for half time"? If not, what is the correct way of saying that?
(2) Is it wrong to put "for" before "the whole time"?
Thanks for your help.

It all sounds a bit odd. Did they eat half of their dinner and then leave?
