For half a day . help me please

Hello Teachers

I need to get it done for half an hour / a day/ a month.

I know that 30 minutes = half an hour.

Q1

half an hour = a half hour = one second hour ? I think “a half =one second”.

90 minutes = one and a half hours = one and one second hours.

= one and half an hour = one hour and thirty minutes

= one point five hours?

Which are more spoken?

Q2

1/2 = one second = a half = one half

1/4 = one fourth = a quarter = one quarter

One and a quarter hours = one and one fourth hours = one hour and twenty minutes?

Which are more spoken?

Thanks a lot

I am confused about

1/4 = one fourth

Why 1/2 can not write as one second ?

Talking about math of fraction. I have learned them as below , help me check

1/2 = one second

1/3= one third , 2/3 = two thirds

1/4= one fourth, 3/4= three fourths

1/7 = one seventh, 5/7 = five sevenths

62/ 100 = six

Why 1/2 can not write as one second ?-- Because we don't, that's all.

Talking about math of fraction. I have learned them as below , help me check
1/2 = one half. The rest are OK.

an hour and a half = one hour and a half , right?-- Right.

an and one can change each other ?-- Yes, but 'one' used when being more precise.

Hi,

1/4= one fourth, No, one/a quarter
3/4= three fourths No, three quarters

I got it.

So How can I say ?

3/2 = three seconds or three halves

3/2 = three halves
5/4 = five fourths or five quarters

I have to disagree with Clive (if I understand his post correctly): one-fourth is as good as one quarter any day.
