For fear/ In case

Hi,

Is the following sentences correct?

For fear:
Is a modal after "for fear" necessary?

We must hurry for fear we miss the plane.

In case: (past or present)

I avoided driving fast in case I have an accident.

Or
I avoided driving fast in case I had an accident.

We must hurry in case we miss the plane does not work. we use in case to suggest that we are prepared for the consequences of something happening, not to avoid the consequences:

We must take an umbrella in case it rains.
We must hurry in case the plane leaves early. (Unlikely these days, I admit)
I've bought train tickets in case we miss the plane.
