I love tropical fruits. For example, pineapple, papaya, and durian.

Is "for example" used correctly?

If we use "for example" at the beginning of a sentence, can we just write a list of things such as in the example above or must it be followed by a complete sentence such as the following example:

There are certain criteria to enter this business. For example, you have to be rich and you also have to have a vast network.

The problem was that you didn't have a complete sentence, just a list of fruits. I showed you how to punctuate in that case. The other case (below) is fine because you have a complete sentence after "For example,".
