What is the exact meaning of this sentence ?
Does it mean that I have been having this problem for as long as I can remember having this problem or does it mean that I have been having this problem for as long as I can remember anything, i.e. probably from a very young young age ?

I have to disagree with both Louise and you on this one. The exact meaning is 'I've had this problem for a long, long time, so that I cannot remember precisely when it began'. In all probability the person can remember many things (elementary school, his first girlfriend, etc.) that pre-date it.
