For and because

Can "for" be used to replace "because" under any situations?

1."I bought a new computer, for my previous one is broken"

2."He won't be on time, for he missed the bus"

3."I'm very careful with my laptop, for it's much too expensive to replace"

Thank you

Guyper Can "for" be used to replace "because" under any situations? Any situation? I don't think anyone can guarantee that!

  • You should note that "for" meaning "because" is not used much in modern English -- at least not in American English conversation, though you may occasionally see it written.
  • I don't believe I have heard it in a conversation in my entire life.
