[for all of/all/all through] yesterday

I have made up the sentences below.

(1a) I said to Jack, "I think Wilson was here for all of yesterday."

(1b) I said to Jack, "I think Wilson was here all yesterday."

(1c) I said to Jack, "I think Wilson was here all through yesterday."

(2) Jack said to me, "Someone told me he was here for only an hour."

Most of my non-native English speaking friends think they are all correct. I am not sure if they are correct. Please help me. Thanks.

I'd say you need (1d). (1d) I think Wilson was here all day yesterday. That's much more natural.

  • I'd say you need (1d).
  • (1d) I think Wilson was here all day yesterday.
  • That's much more natural.
  • (Of course, you'd be understood if you said any of the others.
  • ) (2) is fine.

I'd say you need (1d).

(1d) I think Wilson was here all day yesterday.

That's much more natural. (Of course, you'd be understood if you said any of the others. They are not wrong.)

(2) is fine.
