For all I know

Hi everyone.
The phrase "for all i know" has always been a hassle for me.
I have two contexts both are from the TV show "How I Met Your Mother"

1:
Barney: Okay, you're on a blind date. Sitting across the table is that guy( pointing to some guy"'. You really think it'll take more than five minutes to realize there will be no date number two?

Robin: yes I do. For all I know, that guys is my soul mate.

2:
Ted does something which causes his friend Stuart to break up with his girlfriend.

Ted: Stuart, I don't know what to say. If I caused this in any way...

Stuart: Ted, for all i know you did me the biggest favor anyone's ever done me. This whole thing's made me realize I miss being single. I miss staying out late and making messes....

Would you please explain what "for all i know"' means?

I got this from Macmillan dictionary:
Used to emphasize that you don't know something.

This definition doesn't fit the above conversations.

I'd define it this way. The phrase means that my knowledge of this matter is very limited, so I know no reason to think what I say is incorrect or impossible. eg For all know, there may be life on Mars.
