For a while...

Lois: lf you ask me,
we're looking at a real live (authentic?) spaceship.
Clark: Come on, Lois. You and l both know
that they don't really exist.

Lois: And based on this algae, it looks like
it's been underwater for a while. I know it means for a short time but
I suspect it means for a long time here. Am I right?
