for a hiking / camping

Do I say,

(a) They wanted to go for a camping trip that was organised by the scout society in a forest .

(b) They went for a camping trip by bus.

(c) After a while, they prepared everything for a hiking.

I can't think of a good way to keep "that was organized" and "in a forest" in the same sentence.

(b) They traveled to the camping ground by bus.
Otherwise it sounds like they were camping on a bus.
