For 4 counts/ extend to

Hi

From the bodybuilding book:

The dumbbell lunge tones the quadriceps, or the front of thighs. With a
dumbbell in each hand, stand, feet shoulder width apart and bending
slightly at the knees. Step one foot forward, slowly lower your whole
body for 4 counts. Observe that both knees are bent as the body is
lowered. The front thigh is parallel to the ground but doesn’t extend to
the toes. Carefully return to standing position. Finish 12 repetitions
before alternating legs.

Does it mean that I'm supposed to stay in this lowered position until I count to 4?

Does "doesn't extend to the toes" mean that the knee or thigh doesn't move toward the toes?

That's the exercise: http://www.google.pl/search?q=dumbbell+lunge&hl=pl&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=8bA7T4zVAYnStAafl-3pBg&ved=0CFMQsAQ&biw=1440&bih=785

Newguest slowly lower your wholebody for 4 counts. In my opinion, this is ambiguous. It could mean to gradually lower your body while counting to four, or it could mean to lower your body, and then stay there while counting to four.
