For

Hi,

All I'm asking is for you to set a meet.

Is this "for", to ask for's "for" or is it a structure?

For example does this work too?

The only thing I want is for you to get in the business.

Thank you so much..

johner Is this "for", to ask for's "for" or is it a structure? It's a structure, sometimes called a " for-to clause". If it were part of "ask for", the (optional) "for" would be placed differently: All I'm asking for is for you to schedule a meeting.

  • It works for your second example as well, yes.

These clauses must be the key to speak fluent English. Thank you.
