Football vs Soccer
Hi,
as far as I know football or soccer are the same and also different. What I mean by the football or soccer is that I am referring to the World Cup. As I searched google on this, I am getting confused. Because it is said that the term "football" is used in England and "soccer" is used in America. And also Americans do play football that all players play with a oval ball and put an helmet on. If, in this case, an England guy and an American guys met and are talking about football, aren't they confused? I guess they might be yelling at each other like:
A: "What are you talking about? I am talking about the football!" (He might mean the American bootball; touch down!)
B: "What are YOU talking about? I am talking about the football!" (He might mean football or soccer; goal!)
Or, do they have to explain every single time what they mean when talking about football?

No us Brits know that the Americans refer to Football as soccer and if they say football the refer to American Football. I think most Americans are aware of the fact we have lots of differences in our languages, as are we.

Naturally they will understand each other. They are likely to know what each sport means to each person.
