Foot work

"There are a lot of foot word to do? "
Could you please explain what "foot work" means here for me, with details? Thanks in advance

Hi Jeff, Not much detail to 'foot work'-- it means that a lot of walking is involved. The sentence should read, 'There is a lot of foot work to do', because it is uncountable, like 'work'. I am also taking the liberty of moving your thread to the Vocabulary Forum.

Oh yeah. that's "there is". I always forgot to proofread my posts. Thanks, Mr Micawber.

you said it just meant "a lot of walking is involved". I wondered if it had any implication? Like rudimental work, groundwork, etc.

Thank you for moving my thread to the right place. I'll never make such a mistake. hehhe

Most phrases can carry implications in context, but in itself 'footwork' does not here (it has a different meaning also-- actually doing adroit things with the feet, like a boxer or dancer). You'd have to give us more context to decide if it has futher implications in this case.

It doesn't have to be taken literally as walking. 'Footwork' I would usually take as a metaphor for some hard work at a basic level.

I took one look at the word and all I can think about is the footwork in figure skating -- twizzles, rockers, etc. etc.

Thank you all.

I still believe it do have implacations. For example, Some one is founding his own Spoken Chinese Training School. So at the basic level, we can say there's still a lot of foot work to do.

So I agree with Nona the Brit.
