Hello, Gurus and members!

The paragh below, I find a little awkward.

"took" in the first sentence and the bold font part.

"took" is ambiguous.

And about the bold font part, "ordinary food" should be 'ordinary foods".

Am I correct?

I wish I could be enlightened here.
