I suppose some people might write "food stuff" (or "food-stuff"), but I prefer "foodstuff".

"Foodstuff" means food considered as a substance or commodity. It seems further removed from the actual act of eating than the word "food" does.

"Foodstuff" doesn't work very well in your sentence, but I can't think of a very clear way to explain exactly why. It just doesn't "feel right" f
