Can I say,

(a) The food stain is on the shirt.

(b) The dirty stain is on the shirt.

(c)There are some stain on the shirt.

(d)There is a patch of stain on that shirt.

As far as I concerned if you say stain,it means some unwanted thing is on a shirt so we can remove food in 1st sentence,dirty in the 2nd . Apart from these, we can use all the sentences. I leave it to teacher to correct us.

As far as I concerned if you say stain,it means some unwanted thing
is on a shirt so we can remove food in 1st sentence,dirty in the 2nd .
