Is it food is not for play or playing? If both are ok, what is the difference?

Then if somebody says food is not for play, would you feel like something is odd and you don't know what the person is talking about, or you understand but the sound doean't fit to any situation, or it seems correct but just in different ways?

One would understand, of course, but it just doesn't sound natural.
