Food crops

I found the sentence below on the Net, and am wondering if there are crops that are not food crops. Are there any?

Some 97% of all crops in this region are food crops, such as bananas, beans, and potatoes used for local consumption.

Ah, I see. Then the definition I found in a dictionary (a plant such as wheat, rice, or fruit that is grown by farmers and used as food) is not completely correct ....

The Japanese word for “crop” is “sakumotsu” and it also includes cotton, lavender, hemp, tobacco, etc. (I don’t know sisal.)

Thank you very much, Mister Micawber.
