Food

Hello,
I asked this question, but I did a poor job of explaining my question and wasted one teacher's time. Emotion: sad So I am going to rephrase in a new thread. Are both #1 and #2 correct?

1. Food at this restaurant is cheap.
1. Food at this restaurant is awful.

2. The food at this restaurant is cheap.
2. The food at this restaurant is awful.

Since a qualifier ("at this restaurant") is present in both examples, whether you use the definite article is up to you. So both #1 and #2 are correct. However, style-wise, I would prefer to use the definite article before "food".

P.S. I shouldn't have called "at this restaurant" a qualifier. But that doesn't change my answer, which agrees with Deadrat's.

Deadrat, thank you for taking the time to answer both and for being so attentive!

Xerxes, thank you!
