Following or next?

Teachers,

This is my question, please:

a. Some students say they have more progress when they study at home because the following class flows better. Is this sentence correct?

Is it also possible to say:

"Some students say they have more progress when they study at home because the next class flows better." ?

Thanks,

Camille
