Hi,

Instead of a 'measuring scale', call it a 'ruler'.

I might say like below:

Let's draw a 4 cm by 3.5 cm rectangular by the following steps.

1. Take a pen, a paper and a ruler.
2. Draw a 4 cm horizontal line on the paper. Let the end points be A and B.
3. Draw a 3.5 cm vertical line upward from A and let the end point be C.
4. Draw a 3.5 cm vertical line upward from B and let the end point be D.
5. Join the points C

Hi,

Just a couple more thoughts.

Depending on how you want to draw vertical lines, you might want to use a protractor.

Also, if you still want to use a phrase like These are the steps to draw a rectangle, to me it's better to say These are the steps for drawing a rectangle.

Best wishes, Clive

Hi Paco,

Thanks. I think the steps u mentioned above are more clear and to the point. Using perpendicular term made it little complicated and confusing, as where to draws a perpendicular line on AB.
